This site was for an online estate planning service, in the form of an app. We built their initial website, and it looks as though they’re still using it to this day with very few modifications. It represents the first time I tried to animate some activity on the page based on scrolling action. Really, it’s not JavaScript or anything at all but some tricks with transparent PNGs and backgrounds. The mobile version doesn’t use the same effects because, at the time especially, mobile devices simply didn’t “scroll” the same was as the desktop. Plus it wouldn’t fit. I did also have to write some custom JS to make certain effects happen.

The “Stories” page was fun to build, partially because my team was rolling over the stories. “Here’s Jon. Jon is now in a coma.” I totally understand the rationale behind the stories, we just thought it was morbid how abruptly people were dying in these stories. But I also enjoyed building it.
